Grizzlies Announce Zach Randolph Extension

The Memphis Grizzlies signed Zach Randolph to a multi-year contract extension, Grizzlies General Manager and Vice President of Basketball Operations Chris Wallace announced on Wednesday. Per team policy, terms of the deal were not disclosed.

Various media reports indicate the deal is worth $66 million over four seasons.

“During a week that has seen the Grizzlies franchise take a significant step forward with its first-ever postseason victory, it is incredibly meaningful for this organization to be able to take another by ensuring that Zach Randolph will continue to play on Beale Street for many years to come,” said Chris Wallace, Grizzlies General Manager and Vice President of Basketball Operations. “Zach has been a pillar for this team on the floor and in the community from the moment he arrived two seasons ago, and his leadership has helped to solidify our talented young core, putting the Grizzlies in position for continued success moving forward.”

The 6-9, 255-pound forward posted 20.1 points (19th in the NBA), a career-high and franchise-record 12.2 rebounds (3rd) and 2.2 assists on .503 shooting in 36.3 minutes in 75 games in his second season with Memphis.

Warriors Hire Agent Bob Myers As Assistant GM

Prominent NBA player agent Bob Myers has agreed to become the assistant GM of the Warriors as part of the new franchise owners’ plan to groom him to take over the front office, league sources told Yahoo! Sports.

Larry Riley is currently Golden State's general manager and was given an extension through 2013 on Wednesday.

Lakers Sign Trey Johnson

The Los Angeles Lakers have signed guard Trey Johnson, it was announced today.

Johnson rejoins the Lakers after spending the 2010 preseason with the team before being waived on October 21, 2010. In five preseason games, he averaged 2.8 points, 1.0 rebounds and 1.2 assists in 8.8 minutes.

A 6’5” guard out of Jackson State, Johnson has spent the last four seasons playing for the Bakersfield Jam of the NBA Development League.

Rockets Sign Marqus Blakely To Three-Year Deal

The Rockets reached agreement with Marqus Blakely on a three-year, non-guaranteed contract, a person with knowledge of the deal said. Blakely is a 6-5 forward with the Iowa Energy of the NBA Development League,

Blakely, who averaged 15 points on 62.5 percent shooting and 6.3 rebounds in the D-League this season with Iowa and Bakersfield, will join the Rockets in Minneapolis for the season's last game.

Blakely will replace Mike Harris, whose second 10-day contract has expired, on the Rockets' roster.

Blazers Sign Earl Barron For Remainder Of Season

The Portland Trail Blazers have signed center Earl Barron for the remainder of the season, it was announced today by General Manager Rich Cho.

Barron, 29, has played parts of five seasons with Miami (2005-08), the New York Knicks (2009-10), Phoenix Suns (2010-11) and Milwaukee Bucks (2010-11), posting career averages of 5.2 points, 3.6 rebounds, 0.5 assists and 15.1 minutes in 108 games (27 starts).

Hawks Sign Magnum Rolle

The Atlanta Hawks today signed forward Magnum Rolle to a contract, according to Executive Vice President/General Manager Rick Sund. Per team policy, terms of the deal were not disclosed.

Rolle spent training camp with the Indiana Pacers, and appeared in five preseason games before being waived on October 25, 2010. Rolle was the 51st overall pick in the 2010 NBA Draft, selected by the Oklahoma City Thunder. He was then acquired by the Pacers in exchange for the draft rights to Ryan Reid.

Nets Sign Mario West For Rest Of Season

The New Jersey Nets signed guard Mario West for the final three games of the season.

West played his first three NBA seasons with the Atlanta Hawks.

He spent this season with the Maine Red Claws of the D-League, before signing a 10-day contract with the Nets on March 31.

West has appeared in five games for New Jersey, making three starts and averaging 4 points and nearly 2 rebounds per game.

Rockets Sign Marcus Cousin, Assign Him To Rio Grande Valley Vipers

The Houston Rockets have signed 6-11 center Marcus Cousin to a three-year non-guaranteed contract, and then assigned him to their D-League affiliate the Rio Grande Vipers.

Cousin played this season with the Austin Toros.

To make room for Cousin on Houston's roster, Rockets GM Daryl Morey waived DeMarre Carroll, a forward acquired from the Memphis Grizzlies in the trade that sent Shane Battier to Memphis.

Hasheem Thabeet, the other player acquired in that deal, is being recalled from the Vipers, so that Cousin can take his spot on their roster.

Thunder Sign Robert Vaden From Tulsa 66ers

The Oklahoma Thunder signed Robert Vaden from their D-League affiliate the Tulsa 66ers Saturday, and then Thunder GM Sam Presti immediately assigned him back to the 66ers.

Vaden now fills the 15th spot on the Thunder's roster.

Vaden was drafted by the Charlotte Bobcats in the second round of the 2009 draft, and then acquired by Oklahoma City in a draft day deal.

He has played this entire season with the 66ers. Before joining the 66ers, he spent all of 2009-10 playing in Italy.

Wizards Sign Larry Owens, Othyus Jeffers For Rest Of Season

With only nine healthy player to work with, the Washington Wizards signed Larry Owens from the NBA Development League. They also Othyus Jeffers, who had been on a 10-day contract, for the rest of the season.

Owens, a 6-foot-7 forward, averaged 12.4 points and 5.0 rebounds with the Tulsa 76ers.

In order to make room for Owens, the Wizards released Cartier Martin whose season is  already over after he sustained a stress fracture in his left foot.
