The Minnesota Timberwolves are currently engaged in serious Kevin Love talks with only the Cleveland Cavaliers.

The Golden State Warriors and Chicago Bulls have previously been in touch with the Wolves on a trade, but their respective offers aren't as competitive.

The Bulls are pessimistic about their chances and aren't inclined to significantly alter the construction of their team.

Andrew Wiggins is not eligible to be dealt until Aug. 23 after signing his rookie contract last week, but numerous league insiders expect a trade to be a matter of when instead of if.

Sources continue to indicate that the Chicago Bulls are not aggressively pursuing a trade for Kevin Love and have made no formal offers.

The Bulls were rumored to have made an offer of Taj Gibson, Nikola Mirotic and Doug McDermott to the Minnesota Timberwolves.

McDermott is participating in Team USA's mini-camp for the second straight year.

This is a great experience," McDermott said. "Being a college guy last year, I don't think people knew who I was or that I was a shooter so I was getting a lot of open looks and I hit a lot of shots. This year, guys are a lot more physical with me. But I think I'm doing a better job of rebounding and defending and making reads off screens.

"Everyone is so good here and the game is so physical. I can learn a lot from all of them."

The Minnesota Timberwolves are interested in trading for Thaddeus Young if they eventually move forward with dealing Kevin Love.

The Wolves have held talks with the Philadelphia 76ers on Young, either as part of an expanded Love trade or a separate transaction.

Young has two seasons remaining on his deal worth a combined $19.3 million, with the second season being a player option.

Young has been the subject of trade rumors since Sam Hinkie became general manager of the 76ers last year.

Klay Thompson expects to remain with the Golden State Warriors next season.

The Warriors have engaged the Minnesota Timberwolves in Kevin Love trade talks, but have excluded Thompson from the talks.

"We got a good core. I feel we have one of the better backcourts in the league," Thompson said.

"I feel like we have a team that can do big things. Health is going to be huge, but I feel like we can make big strides this year.

"The fact that I haven't been traded yet makes me feel comfortable. That speaks for itself."

"Every year there is some rumor in play and teams are trying to make a power move," Stephen Curry said. "But they've made a decision, at least it seems like they have, that Klay is an investment they don't want to give up. That speaks volumes to what he has been able to do in his career and his potential. I'm happy that he's my backcourt mate."

Flip Saunders is becoming increasingly interested in the Cleveland Cavaliers' offer of Andrew Wiggins, Anthony Bennett and future first round picks for Kevin Love.

Saunders was long believed to prefer a trade with the Golden State Warriors to acquire Klay Thompson for the Minnesota Timberwolves, but he was never reportedly offered.

Saunders is president of the Wolves and also the head coach, so he was unlikely to want an extended rebuild.

‘‘It gives [Saunders] a chance to mold the team how he wants it,’’ the source said.

The New York Knicks recently offered the Minnesota Timberwolves a package of Amar'e Stoudemire, Tim Hardaway Jr. and Iman Shumpert for Kevin Love, according to a source.

The Timberwolves reportedly declined the offer.

Hardaway has good value around the NBA, but Shumpert could be in line for a raise once his rookie contract ends and Stoudemire has one season left on his big contract.

The Knicks could offer Love a maximum contract if he becomes a free agent next offseason.

The Cleveland Cavaliers' offer for Kevin Love is presently higher on the Minnesota Timberwolves' wish list than any other team's. 

The Chicago Bulls are also interested in Love, while the Golden State Warriors remain involved. The Cavaliers have seemed most motivated to complete a trade, as the Warriors have held Klay Thompson out of talks and the Bulls initially pursued Carmelo Anthony in free agency.

The Cavaliers are offering Andrew Wiggins, though he now can't be traded before Aug. 23. 

Wolves' owner Glen Taylor is now believed to prefer Wiggins over Thompson.

Love initially had the Warriors and Bulls atop his wish list, but the arrival of LeBron James has put the Cavaliers on equal footing.

The Cleveland Cavaliers have signed Andrew Wiggins to his rookie contract.

Wiggins' deal starts at the rookie scale of $5.5 million.

Wiggins cannot be traded for at least 30 days. Wiggins has been mentioned in trade rumors involving Kevin Love.

The Boston Celtics are ready to all but move on from their pursuit of Kevin Love with the Cleveland Cavaliers and Chicago Bulls engaged in talks.

Danny Ainge has targeted a trade for Love over the past few months.

"The more teams step up and show interest in Love, the further Boston falls in the pack," a source said on Wednesday. "Danny's a smart guy. He knows when to keep pushing for something and when to move on."

The Celtics have a huge stockpile of draft assets, but teams seem to be preferring somewhat proven young talent.

The Chicago Bulls have reportedly offered Taj Gibson, Doug McDermott and Nikola Mirotic to the Minnesota Timberwolves for Kevin Love.

The trade could not be completed until next month because McDermott and Mirotic just signed their rookie contracts.

The source contends that the Wolves believe this trade offer is better than the Cleveland Cavaliers' offer of Andrew Wiggins, Anthony Bennett and a No. 1 pick. But the Cavaliers could beat the offer by including a second future No. 1 pick.

The Golden State Warriors and Boston Celtics remain interested in Love as well.
