The New Orleans Hornets announced Eric Gordon will undergo arthroscopic surgery on his right knee on Tuesday.
The surgery is needed to fully resolve an injury that was sustained earlier in the season during a Hornets game. After that point it did not fully heal with treatment and rest. The doctors expect that Gordon will be fully recovered and able to return to playing in up to six weeks.
“After consulting with our medical staff, we concluded that surgery was the best route and in the best interest of Eric for the long term. We had hoped with rest and rehab, Eric's knee would have healed.” General Manager Dell Demps said. “Eric is eager to return to the court and we are confident Hornet Fans will get to see him soon.”
He sustained the injury to his knee in the first quarter of the team’s opening game in Phoenix on 12/26.

The Celtics will be without Brandon Bass for the next 10 to 14 days because of knee inflammation.
Bass felt soreness after Boston’s loss in Toronto on Friday night and Doc Rivers learned the extent of the injury on Sunday morning when he received a call from doctor Ed Lacerte. Bass missed the Feb. 5th game against Memphis because of issues with his right knee felt against New York on Feb. 3rd.
“We knew the knee was bothering him, but then he got the treatment, and he missed that one game,” Rivers said. “There was nothing said after the Toronto game. Then Eddie called me this morning and told me he was out, and out for a while. That was a surprise.”
Two weeks from Sunday coincides with All-Star weekend, which would mean Bass could return on Tuesday, Feb. 28 in Cleveland. Bass will likely miss a total of six games.

The decision to rest Dwyane Wade for two weeks appears to have paid dividends. In Wade’s past five games he has scored at least 25 points.
“He’s back in attack mode and back to doing the moves he did before the injury,” LeBron James said. “He’s as close to as 100 percent as you can get, and that’s good to see.”
“The most important thing is that we play in an attack mentality, but the ball has to move,” said Erik Spoelstra.

Kobe Bryant tore a ligament in his right wrist in December, but he has yet to suffer a lockout related injury.

"Here I am, I haven't pulled a hamstring or pulled muscles or anything like that. Over the summer, I worked extremely hard trying to stay in shape and trying to get ready for this compression."

Derrick Rose did not play on Sunday afternoon against the Celtics as he continues to be limited by back issues.
Rose has been limited by back spasms for weeks and also sat out Friday’s win over the Bobcats.
“I told coach it didn’t get any better and he told me to sit out,” Rose said before Chicago took on Boston. “I’ve got to be able to move, get up without hurting and be myself. Whenever I feel there is no pain there anymore I’ll be ready to go.”
Tom Thibodeau said Rose will see a specialist on Monday. Chicago will host Sacramento, Boston and New Jersey this week without any back-to-back contests.

Andrea Bargnani has been rehabilitating his strained calf by performing non-weight-bearing exercises in a swimming pool.
“He did a lot of pool work trying to get his calf going,” coach Dwane Casey. “He’s working hard on it every day. I think we’re going to try to step it up in the next week or so to get more of a weight-bearing load on it. But there’s still no time table as far as what day he’s getting back or if he’s going to come back before all-star game.
“It’s more running in the pool. Alex [McKechnie, Raptors director of sports science] has him doing all of these exercises with different types of weights.”

Brook Lopez, who has not played all season because of a broken foot, says he is ready to return to practice.
"I don’t really think there’s anything (left to do)," Lopez said after shooting jump shots prior to the Nets' game against the Pistons at the Palace of Auburn Hills. "We just have to keep putting it together and keep trying to get into shape and the next opportunity at practice, hopefully I’ll be able to participate."
Lopez went through a light workout on Friday.
"We got some shots up, a lot of running — up and backs, up and backs; jump shots; post moves — it was good stuff," Lopez said.
Avery Johnson said the Nets will take a cautious approach with Lopez.
"Patience is the key when you’re talking about a small bone in a 7-foot guy’s foot," Johnson said. "We’d like to not have any setbacks."

The Bulls beat the Bobcats 95-64 on Friday night, moving to 5-1 this season without Derrick Rose, who sat out with a lower back strain.
"Overall, from the start of camp, I thought our team's attitude and approach to the games has been very good," coach Tom Thibodeau said. "And I don't think it changes from game to game. And I think that's really important. Again, we don't want to look behind, we don't want to look ahead, we just want to stare at exactly what's in front of us."
Joakim Noah led the Bulls with 17 points and 14 rebounds.
"We're focused right now," Bulls center Joakim Noah said. "We're just trying to play the right way. Whatever the challenge is, we're just trying to play the right way. And I think we're definitely getting better. It's a good feeling. There's a big one coming up on Sunday and we just didn't want to have any letdowns coming into this game. We handled our business."
