LeBron James Sits Against Pacers For Rest

Feb 27, 2015 6:43 PM

LeBron James will miss Friday's game against the Indiana Pacers due to rest.

David Blatt said he made the decision to sit James based on “a combination of things” and not one specific ailment.

“It was not his idea, it was mine. Let’s put it that way,” Blatt said. “We have our hand on the pulse of LeBron and all our players. We’re doing what we have to do here to keep our team healthy all the way through the season.”

The Cleveland Cavaliers are 2-8 this season in games without James.

Ainge: Sullinger Hasn't Met His Conditioning Standards

Feb 26, 2015 7:04 PM

Danny Ainge revealed Thursday that Jared Sullinger did not meet any of the Boston Celtics' team-wide conditioning goals this season.

Sullinger is out for the remainder of the season with a foot injury.

“Well, Jared and I have talked a lot about (his conditioning) over the past year,” Ainge said on 98.5 The Sports Hub’s “Toucher & Rich." “It’s something we take great pride in with our players. Our players have really bought in to our program, and a lot of guys — I think every guy has met the goals that they have set in regards to strength and conditioning, and body fat, and weight, and all the different things our strength coaches do on a regular basis.

“Jared just hasn’t met his goals. He’s not up to the standards that he wants and is not up to the standards that we think are in his best interests for the long-term health of his career. He’s not up to par to the standards that we feel are necessary to be a consistent winning player and play with great conditioning.”

Paul George Participates In First Full Practice, Return Date Unclear

Feb 26, 2015 6:59 PM

Paul George participated in his first full practice this season with the Indiana Pacers on Thursday, beating his personal goal of March 1 by several days.

"Felt good. Felt really good," George said, "to be able to go through a full practice now and go up and down, it's a big step for me."

George does not yet have a firm date for his return from a right leg injury.

"I'm still hopeful," George said. "That's the date that I wish to return. (But) long ways away, still got some steps and some hurdles to overcome. That's still a goal of mine."

Frank Vogel said Thursday was the next step in the process for George.

"We want him to come back when he's ready to come back. He's eager to get out on the court, but he's not going to do it before he's ready," Vogel said. "We understand once he's medically cleared to play in a game, then there's going to be: Is he ready to play in a game? And that could be a few more weeks beyond that. It's really going to be something we monitor almost on a daily basis and hopefully it progresses as well."
