Kevin Durant Undergoes Bone Graft Surgery On Foot

Mar 31, 2015 3:35 PM

Kevin Durant has undergone successful bone graft surgery for the fifth metatarsal of his right foot.

The procedure was performed by Dr. Martin O’Malley with Thunder medical personnel present at the Hospital for Special Surgery in New York City. Durant will miss the remainder of the 2014-15 season and is expected to return to full basketball activities in the next four to six months.

Durant posted the following picture and statement on Instagram following the surgery:

"Not what I envisioned coming into this season. But I'm here and ready to conquer this journey. I've heard it all over the last few weeks, but I'm not here to prove anything to anybody, im battling myself. When quit and negativity are staring me in my face, i will stay strong and disciplined. And I won't do it on my own, my closest and friends and family are here to help and that's something I will be forever grateful for. I appreciate all the well wishes from all of you guys, I appreciate it. This is just a small obstacle when I look at the big picture. THANKS TO ALL MY NBA BROTHERS THAT REACHED OUT, means a lot to me. Road to recovery. GO THUNDER, I can't wait to play with my teammates again. LETS DO THIS."

Mar 30, 2015 4:38 PM

Derrick Rose returned to the contact portions of practice on Monday and is on track for his four-to-six week recovery from a knee injury.

"He was aggressive," Tom Thibodeau said. "He was a little winded, but we expected that. Overall, I thought it was good. He said he feels good physically. The big thing is going to be the wind and conditioning. He’s been out a long time."

The goal is for Rose to log as many regular-season games as possible with the Chicago Bulls to build chemistry and conditioning.

Hibbert: Paul George Looks Like His Old Awesome Self In Practice

Mar 30, 2015 12:27 PM

Paul George has been cleared to return to game action and has been traveling the Indiana Pacers for weeks.

George has been impressive in practice as he works his way back from a broken leg.

"Seeing the things he does in practice, it's awesome," Roy Hibbert said. "He's coming. But I don't know what's going on with, I'm not a part of it. The training staff hasn't told us what they're planning on doing, and the front office doesn't. So they collectively talk. But the things he does in practice looks like the old PG, so whenever he comes back he'll be good ... People are going to be surprised. He's going to have a big play his first couple of possessions back."

Jamal Crawford is not worried he may miss the rest of the season with his injured calf.

Crawford has been out for more than three weeks with what he describes as "the weirdest" injury of his NBA career.

“It’s hard not playing,” said Crawford, who is not traveling with the team on its current three-game trip, “but I just look at it as each day is a little closer to coming back. The team is playing well and I see my family a little more, so I’m trying to look at the positives.”

Derrick Rose Close To Clearance For Contact, Confident Of Return This Season

Mar 25, 2015 1:28 PM

Derrick Rose remains confident he will return to the Chicago Bulls' lineup this season.

Rose expects to be cleared for contact either next week or next. Rose is doing everything with the Bulls except taking contact.

"Oh yeah, I’m not worried about that," Rose said. "I’m feeling good. I’m trying to do all the right things. Put all the positives in the bag and just try to go with it. It’s something that I’ve been doing for a long time. Rehab is definitely a grind. But I’m getting used to it."

Rose had a small piece of his right meniscus removed on Feb. 27. The Bulls estimated his return to action at four to six weeks. Friday marks four weeks since the surgery.

"Should be sometime this week or next week," Rose said when asked about taking contact. "Gotta talk to (Director of Sports Performance) Jen (Swanson) and go from there."
