Khris Middleton's Hamstring Was Torn Off Bone

Nov 28, 2016 11:55 AM

When Khris Middleton suffered a torn hamstring in September during an informal workout, it actually was torn completely off the bone.

“That’s a pretty rare injury; that’s unusual,’’ said a league official.

Multiple NBA officials said they're unaware of any player in recent years sustaining a similar injury.

At the time of Middleton’s setback, Bucks officials said Middleton would be sidelined for “approximately six months.’’

Middleton is back on the court again two months after the injury. While he is incapable of running and cutting, he is nevertheless working on his game.

“I’ve been doing some shooting; I’m just trying to get back into a little shooting form,’’ said Middleton.

Middleton is optimistic about returning this season.

“I think I’ll be back at some point this season,’’ Middleton said. “When? I just don’t know yet.’’

D'Angelo Russell Won't Return Until 100 Percent

Nov 27, 2016 3:01 AM

D'Angelo Russell wants to be 100 percent healthy before he returns to the Los Angeles Lakers' lineup.

Russell underwent a platelet-rich plasma injection in his sore left knee that will keep him out at least two weeks.

"I definitely don't want to force anything," Russell said Saturday at the Lakers' training facility in his first public comments since the injection. "I feel like I've got to be 100 percent perfect before I step back on the floor."

Russell said the left knee had been bothering him off and on since the start of the season.

"I was in a lot of pain, but I knew how to control it," he said. "I knew what not to do. [There are] so many games in this league, so it's hard to stay healthy when you're injured and try to maintain that focus."

He added, "I can't really move the way I want, so when I try to fight it and [do] sharp movements and plant and do stuff like that, it aggravated it."

Paul George Holds First Players-Only Meeting Of Career

Nov 26, 2016 11:15 AM

Paul George will miss the Indiana Pacers' next three games with a sore left ankle.

Since he sustained his injury Nov. 11 in the overtime loss to the Philadelphia 76ers, George has felt significant soreness in his ankle when he ran on it.

George missed four out of the Pacers' next six games and test results showed no structural damage.

George intended to play in Friday’s game against the Brooklyn Nets after holding his first players-only meeting of his seven-year career.

“I wanted to get the guys together and kind of wanted to get them to just start seeing the game differently,” George said after the Pacers’ shootaround. “If there’s action going on strong side, why can’t we talk and say, ‘Hey, I’m going to set you up for this back screen or I’m going to get to you for this pin down.’ No reason why we can’t communicate on the offensive end.”
