Jarell Martin To Undergo Surgery On Foot, Out For Season

Apr 22, 2016 3:28 PM

Jarell Martin will undergo a procedure to alleviate soreness in his left foot, the team announced today. Martin will miss the remainder of the 2016 NBA Playoffs and is expected to make a full recovery.

Martin originally underwent surgery on Sept. 3, 2015 to repair a left foot fracture sustained one day earlier in a collision with another player during a workout. A follow-up procedure had been previously scheduled for the offseason, but after Martin experienced recent soreness in the foot, it was determined the best course of action for Martin and the organization was to address the discomfort immediately.

Martin was the 25th overall pick in the 2015 NBA Draft.

He has appeared in each of Memphis’ first two postseason games during the Western Conference First Round against San Antonio and averaged 4.5 points and 3.5 rebounds in 23.0 minutes.

Stephen Curry Was Willing To Play In Game 3, Hopeful For Game 4

Apr 22, 2016 3:52 PM

Stephen Curry was willing to play in Game 3 but a group decision led to him sitting the Golden State Warriors' loss to the Houston Rockets.

“We talked to Steph after shootaround, and he felt pretty good. He moved well. He wanted to play,” Kerr said before the game. “But ultimately, we didn’t feel comfortable after four straight days of inactivity, throwing him into the middle of a playoff game not knowing how the ankle would respond.

“His thought was he would be OK. We just felt a lot more comfortable putting him through a three-on-three (Friday), probably a five-on-five on Saturday, and really seeing if he’s OK or not. It wasn’t worth the risk if we put him out there tonight and he re-injured it.”

Kerr said the ankle improved from Wednesday to Thursday. The decision was made by Kerr, Myers, Maloney and the training staff, with input from Curry.

“We made a collaborative decision,” Myers said. “Everyone had a voice, including Steph. The fact he hasn’t done much live work in practice, it’s hard to know what he can do in game situations.”

Update: Kerr said Curry looked good in practice on Friday.

"We're hoping he's able to go (in Game 4)," said Kerr.

Stephen Curry Questionable For Game 3 With Foot Issue

Apr 21, 2016 6:45 PM

Stephen Curry remains questionable for Game 3 of the Golden State Warriors' first round series against the Houston Rockets.

Curry participated in shootaround on Thursday.

"He looked like he was moving pretty well," Steve Kerr said.

"We've got to wait and see how he responds to shootaround."

Before missing Game 2 of the series on Monday, Curry did not participate in that shootaround and was forced to cut short his pregame routine.

"He went through his pregame routine yesterday after shootaround, and I think he's doing it right now, too," Kerr said.
