The New Orleans Hornets announced that they have requested waivers on forward Lance Thomas.
Thomas, a Duke University product, appeared in two regular season games, averaging 0.5 points. In two preseason games (both starts), he averaged 3.5 points and 4.5 rebounds.
The Memphis Grizzlies waived Brian Skinner, Chris Wallace announced on Thursday.
Skinner (6-9, 255), who originally signed with Memphis on Dec. 10, appeared in one regular season game with the Grizzlies, logging four minutes on Dec. 26 at San Antonio.
The Thunder bought out the contract of Nate Robinson on Saturday, according to his agent Aaron Goodwin, the day before the NBA 2011-12 season tips off.
Terms weren't disclosed but Robinson was scheduled to make $4.5 million for 2011-12. The Thunder needed to settle with him before the season to open his roster spot.
Robinson is expected to clear waivers and will be a free agent.
The Timberwolves have waived veteran guard Bonzi Wells.
Wells has not appeared in an NBA game since 2008.
He spent the past two years playing in China and Puerto Rico and came to Wolves camp hoping to revive his career. Wells had a history with Wolves coach Rick Adelman, and Adelman brought him in to give his younger players some guidance during training camp.
Oklahoma City is close to completing a buyout of guard Nate Robinson's contract and the seven-year veteran is likely to become a free agent as soon as Saturday morning.
Robinson is on the books for $4.5 million in the final year of his contract, but he opted to stay in his native Seattle during training camp and the preseason rather than endure a second season on the Thunder bench.
Robinson's agent, Aaron Goodwin, and Thunder general manager Sam Presti had been working toward a mutual agreement in recent weeks and it appears a resolution is being finalized.
Hamed Haddadi is still trying to obtain a work visa, and he's also looking for an NBA contract.
Grizzlies general manager Chris Wallace confirmed Thursday that the team withdrew its $2 million qualifying offer from Haddadi, a 7-footer who hails from Iran.
The move makes Haddadi, 26, an unrestricted free agent. He can sign with any NBA team without the Griz having a right to match offers.
