The Cavaliers have claimed forward Jon Leuer off waivers from the Rockets, Cavaliers GM Chris Grant announced today Friday. Leuer, 23, averaged 4.7 points on .508 shooting and 2.6 rebounds in 12.1 minutes per game in 46 games (12 starts) during his rookie season in 2011-12. In his 12 starts, the 6-foot-10, 228-pound forward averaged 7.7 points on .560 shooting and 3.3 rebounds in 17.7 minutes per game. “Jon is a young, athletic, hard-working post player. He will add depth and also bring a perimeter shooting element to our big positions,” said GM Chris Grant. “We’re happy to add Jon to our team and looking forward to his continued growth and development as a Cavalier.”

The Clippers have used their amnesty clause on Ryan Gomes.
Gomes will go on the amnesty waiver.
The Nuggets have amnestied Chris Andersen.
Denver needed to clear Andersen from their cap in order to sign Anthony Randolph.
Randolph will sign a three-year, $6 million contract with Denver.
The Wizards have decided to use their amnesty provision on Andray Blatche.
Blatche has $23 million remaining on his contract.
"Andray did not figure into our future plans, and using the amnesty provision is a mutually beneficial opportunity for us to part ways," said Ernie Grunfeld. “We will be able to continue to develop our core group of young players, blend in the solid veterans we have acquired and maintain financial flexibility while Andray will be able to get a fresh start with another team. We wish him the best moving forward."
The Suns placed a winning amnesty bid for Luis Scola at three-years, $13.5 million.
Houston used their amnesty clause on Scola last week.
Hassan Whiteside has been waived by the Kings.
Sacramento drafted Whiteside in the second round of the 2010 NBA Draft.
Whiteside was waived before the option for 12-13 was picked up.
The Atlanta Hawks today requested waivers on guard Jordan Farmar.
Farmar has signed a three-year deal with Anadolu Efes of Turkey.
Farmar was acquired from Brooklyn on July 11, along with Anthony Morrow, DeShawn Stevenson, Johan Petro, Jordan Williams, a first- and second-round pick, and other draft considerations, in exchange for Joe Johnson.
The Philadelphia 76ers have waived center Darryl Watkins. He was acquired by the Sixers in a three-team trade last Wednesday.
The Sixers obtained Watkins from New Orleans and forward Dorell Wright from Golden State while sending the rights to Edin Bavcic to the Hornets, who also traded Jarrett Jack to the Warriors.
The Suns have used their amnesty clause on Josh Childress.
Phoenix placed a successful bid on amnesty waivers for Luis Scola and are believed to be creating additional cap space to sign O.J. Mayo.
Childress signed a five-year, $33.5 million with the Suns in 2010.
The Suns have been awarded Luis Scola on the amnesty waivers.
Houston used their amnesty clause on Scola this week.
