Rasheed Sulaimon Dismissed From Duke's Basketball Program

Jan 29, 2015 5:42 PM

Rasheed Sulaimon was dismissed from Duke's basketball program on Thursday. The Houston native had not previously been disciplined, at least publicly, all season.

"Rasheed has been unable to consistently live up to the standards required to be a member of our program," Mike Krzyzewski said in a release. "It is a privilege to represent Duke University and with that privilege comes the responsibility to conduct oneself in a certain manner. After Rasheed repeatedly struggled to meet the necessary obligations, it became apparent that it was time to dismiss him from the program."

Last season the coaching staff talked to Sulaimon about his body language when things didn't go his way.

Sulaimon appeared in all 20 games this season and averaged 7.5 points, 2.0 rebounds and 1.8 assists per game.

Robert Upshaw Considering Playing In D-League

Jan 27, 2015 3:07 PM

Robert Upshaw is giving serious thought to playing in the D-League this season following his dismissal from the University of Washington's basketball program.

After his dismissal from Washington, Upshaw’s inner-circle has begun the agent selection process, sources told Yahoo Sports.

The NBA does not allow players enrolled at the beginning of a school year to make the immediate move into the D-League unless there’s corroboration that the NCAA or university has declared them ineligible.

Upshaw, 21, is rated as the NBA’s No. 20 prospect on Draft Express.com’s Top 100 list. Playing in the D-League would allow Upshaw to improve his stock for the 2015 NBA Draft.

Tyler Harris Plans Draft Entry Despite Unexpected Role Cut In Providence Junior Season

Jan 22, 2015 12:49 PM

Providence junior forward Tyler Harris has plans to enter the NBA Draft in June in spite of a puzzling role reduction that has fueled a belief that he’s being regressed to stay in school for his senior season of eligibility, sources told RealGM.

One season after starting in all 35 games of Providence’s run to the NCAA Big East tournament championship, Harris has started 11 of 19 games. Harris – the younger brother of Orlando Magic forward Tobias Harris – has seen his minutes reduced by an average of 3.7 compared to a season ago when he played 32.2 per game.

Harris, 21, is scheduled to graduate this year with enough credit hours for his college degree, but he’s long planned to forgo his senior eligibility. Nevertheless, the glaring decrease in his starting position and minutes has signaled that Providence coach Ed Cooley is testing Harris’ resolve and gauging whether he could return for another season.

For personnel at the NBA level, Harris (6-foot-9) is perceived in between the small and power forward positions as a mid-tier prospect. He spent last summer training in camps held by LeBron James and Kevin Durant.

In a season that includes a 17-point performance in a win over Notre Dame and strong play early, Harris is averaging 10.8 points, 4.6 rebounds and 1.3 assists. Those numbers are down from his 11.6 points and 5.1 boards a game as a sophomore.

Harris began his college career at North Carolina State, playing 19 games in 2011-12.

SMU Notified Of Allegations

Jan 16, 2015 5:23 PM

SMU has received a Notice of Allegations from the NCAA that includes accusations of academic improprieties within Larry Brown's men's basketball program, multiple sources told ESPN.

Sources told ESPN that SMU is expected to meet with the NCAA's Committee of Infractions later this year.

"The investigation is complete," one source said.

One of the allegations involves sophomore Keith Frazier's academics, as issues began when he was attempting to become eligible prior to his arrival at SMU, according to a source familiar with the allegations.

Frazier, a McDonald's All-American out of Kimball High School in Dallas, had difficulty meeting the NCAA's eligibility standards to get into SMU. Earlier Friday, sources told ESPN the 6-foot-5 sophomore will be ruled ineligible for the remainder of the season, pending a ruling on his final appeal filed this week, due to his current academic standing.
