NCAA Bans SMU From 2016 Postseason, Larry Brown Suspended Nine Games

Sep 29, 2015 11:04 AM

The NCAA has banned SMU from 2016 postseason play and has suspended Larry Brown for 30 percent of the team's games this season because of a lack of head coach control, according to a report.

Brown will miss nine games total.

SMU will have nine scholarship losses over the next three seasons.

Part of the investigation at SMU stemmed from whether a former basketball administrator and ex-assistant coach Ulric Maligi helped Keith Frazier to become eligible to play there.

Draymond Green Donates $3.1M To Michigan State

Sep 11, 2015 2:29 AM

Draymond Green has donated $3.1 million to Michigan State athletics in support of the men's basketball program.

Green recently signed a five-year, $82 million contract with the Golden State Warriors.

“I was pretty heavy when I got here and not expected to be a pro or doing what I'm doing today,” Green said at a Breslin Center news conference with Izzo, MSU President Lou Anna K. Simon and MSU athletic director Mark Hollis, with the current MSU basketball team and many others on hand. “So can I come in here and take credit for that, or do I give the credit where it's rightfully due, which is this university? And if so, how do I show my thanks? That was just a small way of me saying thank you.

“I can say thank you all I want and I can talk to coach Izzo every day. But how do I do something to say thank you but to also help these guys over here have the opportunity that I have? One thing coach Izzo used to always tell me is ‘I'm living my dream. All I want to do is see you live yours.’ As a freshman, it's hard to believe that. The way he's on you, you don't understand it, it's hard to believe it. Once you realize, ‘This guy wants me to be successful more than I want to be successful,’ it develops that love and makes you want to come back and give back to these guys like others have done for me.”

Frank Jackson Commits To Duke

Sep 2, 2015 12:33 PM

Frank Jackson has committed to Duke, choosing to join Mike Krzyzewski over Stanford, Utah and BYU.

Jackson had previously planned on going on a two-year Mormon mission after graduating high school, but his rise up scouting boards made him reconsider his plans.

Jackson gives Duke a commit for the 2016 class who can be a scoring guard at both positions. Jackson is currently ranked 14th by ESPN on their Top 100 recruits of the class.
