Withdrawal Date For NBA Draft Pushed Back

Jan 14, 2016 1:21 AM

The NCAA Division I council has agreed to push back the date when men's basketball players must remove their names from the NBA draft until late May.

The decision goes into effect this year.

The rule change reverses a 2009 decision that had moved the date to the day before the spring signing period in early April.

This move allows players more time to gather information before making a decision.

John Calipari Seeks 10-Year, $120M Contract For NBA Return

Jan 11, 2016 11:11 AM

For NBA teams interested in hiring John Calipari, they have been told his asking price is 10 years and $120 million.

Calipari currently earns $8 million to $9 million per season at Kentucky and wouldn't leave that job for just an incremental raise.

Calipari turned down a 10-year, $80 million-plus offer from the Cleveland Cavaliers in 2014 and he told the Sacramento Kings last spring it would take an offer with an annual average of more than $11 million.

The offer from the Cavaliers serves as a baseline and he seeks the $12 million per season Phil Jackson makes from the New York Knicks.

Calipari has also been linked to the Brooklyn Nets. The Nets hired Calipari in the 1990s with a five-year, $15 million contract when he came from UMass.

Nets' Brett Yormark Remains Proponent Of John Calipari

Jan 10, 2016 6:51 PM

Brett Yormark is expected to have influence in the Brooklyn Nets' general manager search.

Yormark remains an ally of John Calipari since his late 1990s tenure as president and head coach.

Yormark has remained a proponent of making a large offer to bring Calipari back to the Nets in a dual role as president and head coach.

Since his difficult tenure with the Nets, Calipari has had great success back in college at Memphis and Kentucky.
