Trier grew up in Seattle but moved to Oklahoma City in the eighth grade. He attended Montrose Christian (Maryland) last season and is set to transfer to Findlay Prep (Las Vegas) this year.
Trier chose Arizona over Washington, UCLA, Kansas and Louisville.
