Reeves Nelson Files $10M Lawsuit Against Sports Illustrated

May 24, 2012 10:42 AM

Reeves Nelson has filed a $10 million defamation lawsuit against Sports Illustrated.

The lawsuit comes after a March article that characterized Nelson as a bully to his UCLA teammates.

Nelson was dismissed from the team in December.

The lawsuit includes sworn declarations from 18 former teammates.

Drew Gordon, for example, disputes the allegation that Nelson gave him a black eye.

"We have never had a fight, not at a teammate's apartment or anywhere else, nor has Nelson ever given me a black eye from a fight or otherwise," Gordon said in his declaration.

Tyler Honeycutt denies that Nelson urinated on his bed and clothes.

"Nelson did not pile my clothes onto my bed … and he certainly did not urinate on my clothes. … Nelson played a minor college prank on me, throwing some Jolly Rancher candy and baby powder on my bed and flipping over the mattress when I left our dorm room," Honeycutt's statement said.

Aaron Gordon Has Washington, Oregon, Kentucky, Arizona, Kansas In Top-Five

May 14, 2012 12:30 PM

Aaron Gordon has narrowed his list to five schools.

"My top five are Washington, Oregon, Kentucky, Arizona, and Kansas," said Gordon.

Goreon will be a senior next year at Mitty of San Jose.

"I would say my favorite at this point is probably Washington just because I have a good relationship with the coaches," said Gordon.

Gordon, who is a consensus top-five member of the 2013 class, recently suffered a fractured toe.

"Everybody has a decent shot because I'm probably not going to decide until after my senior season. Oregon, Washington, and Arizona are probably recruiting me the hardest right now, though."
