With Jason M. Williams on the road, I'm filling in for him this week delivering the rankings based strictly on team Floor Impact Counter for the season.
Since the playoffs are just around the corner, I also decided to look at which teams have been playing the best ball over the last 10 games, and that number and rank is in parenthesis.
1. Boston Celtics , 20.3 (26.5, 2nd)
The Celtics easily led the NBA in the all-important point differential per game at 10.3.
2. Detroit Pistons , 16.8 (12.1, 10th)
The Pistons, largely thanks to Chauncey Billups, have the best assist/turnover ratio in the NBA with 2.08.
3. Phoenix Suns , 15.9 (13.1 9th)
The Suns lead the NBA in pure field goal percentage at 49.6%, which is remarkable considering they shoot 22.3 3-pointers per game.
4. Utah Jazz , 14.4 (25.5, 3rd)
Utah’s opponents average just 38.4 rebounds per game, which is the fewest number in the NBA.
5. L.A. Lakers , 13.2 (16.3, 7th)
The Lakers lead the NBA in defensive rebounds per game with a 33.3 nightly clip.
6. Houston Rockets , 13.0 (28.8, 1st)
The Rockets have the best rebounding differential in the NBA with +4.4.
7. Dallas Mavericks , 10.6 (18.7, 6th)
The Mavericks lead the NBA in free throw percentage with an 81.5% mark.
8. Denver Nuggets , 8.4 (22.2, 4th)
The Nuggets get to the line 30.5 times per game, first in the entire NBA.
9. New Orleans Hornets , 8.1 (9.5, 12th)
The Hornets get to the free throw line a mere 20 times per night, last in the NBA.
10. San Antonio Spurs , 7.4 (-3.1, 18th)
Spurs’ opponents average 9.5 offensive rebounds per game, best in the NBA.
11. Orlando Magic , 6.1 (19.3, 5th)
With all of their 3-pointers and Dwight Howard dunks, the Magic lead the NBA in points per shot with 1.34.
12. Toronto Raptors , 4.7 (-11.1, 22nd)
The Raptors lead the NBA in 3-point shooting percentage at a 40% clip.
13. Golden State Warriors , 2.4 (13.1, 8th)
The Warriors easily lead the NBA in 3-point shot attempts per game at 27.0.
14. Philadelphia 76ers , 1.2 (11.2, 11th)
The Sixers have the best OREB% in the NBA this season.
15. Portland TrailBlazers, 0.0 (1.4, 15th)
No team gets their shots blocked less frequently than the Blazers with 3.7 per night.
16. Cleveland Cavaliers , -0.2 (9.5, 13th)
The Cavaliers are 3rd in the NBA in OREB% at 29.7.
17. Atlanta Hawks -2.2 (-2.6, 17th)
The Hawks also are 3rd in OREB% at 29.7.
18. Washington Wizards , -2.8 (-2.1, 16th)
The Wizards are 4th in the NBA in free throw percentage at 79%.
19. Chicago Bulls , -4.0 (2.3, 14th)
The Bulls lead the NBA in offensive rebounds per game with 13.5.
20. New Jersey Nets , -5.3 (-11.0, 21st)
The Nets have the 4th worst eFG% in the NBA at 47.3.
21. Indiana Pacers , -6.0 (-7.4, 20th)
The Pacers yield an NBA worst 39% 3-point shooting percentage.
22. Sacramento Kings , -8.9 (-11.5, 23rd)
The Kings have the worst assist/turnover ratio in the NBA at 1.23.
23. Charlotte Bobcats , -9.9 (-5.1, 19th)
No team in the NBA gets their shots blocked more frequently than the Bobcats with 6.1 per night.
24. L.A. Clippers , -10.4 (-25.0, 26th)
The Clippers averaged the fewest points in the Western Conference at 94.1 per night.
25. Milwaukee Bucks , -12.4 (-14.9, 25th)
The Bucks allow a 47.7 FG%, worst in the Eastern Conference.
26. Miami Heat , -14.0 (-25.1, 27th)
The Heat average just 93.4 points per night, worst in the NBA.
27. Memphis Grizzlies , -15.9 (-31.8, 30th)
The Grizzlies yield an NBA worst 48.1% field goal percentage.
28. Seattle Supersonics , -16.0 (-28.8, 29th)
No team in the NBA grabs more rebounds every night than the 44.9 Seattle brings down.
29. New York Knicks , -17.1 (-26.8, 28th)
The Knicks averaged 18.2 assists per game, worst in the NBA, and not surprisingly, they are last in blocks at just 2.6 per night.
30. Minnesota Timberwolves , -18.0 (-14.2, 24th)
Despite Al Jefferson’s 51% field goal percentage, the Wolves are last in the NBA in PPS at 1.14. |
