I can’t believe how badly the Dodgers are giving it to the Cubs as they head to L.A. with a 2-0 lead in their best-of-five NLDS. My honest apologies to fans of the North Siders…

David Lee could sign an extension with the Knicks before the Oct. 31 deadline. The report is a surprising one considering that Mike D’Antoni was rumored to not like Lee’s game. Maybe Mike plans to run less in New York, which will allow Lee to use his strength more often.

The Warriors and Monta Ellis’ agent will soon discuss whether or not the team will discipline the guard for his moped injury. Golden State can’t afford to suspend Ellis, but a hefty fine seems plausible.

How Will He Look In That?, by Andrew Perna.

Carlos Boozer won’t discuss or consider an extension with the Jazz until after the season is over. The decision could go either way, depending on how he plays in Utah. But due to his history, the lack of an extension could make the Jazz a little uneasy.

Pistons' guard Rip Hamilton is glad that Flip Saunders is no longer coaching in Detroit, citing a displeasure for how Flip “did things”. Detroit is under the radar in the East this season, if a team with roughly 79-straight Conference Finals appearances can be considered a dark horse.

Season Preview: Southwest Division, by Jason M. Williams.

Raptors 'phenom Jamario Moon could be poised to receive a huge contract next summer if he continues to surprise as perhaps the oldest second-year player in NBA history. At roughly $711k, Moon provides Toronto with one of the best bargains in all of basketball.

2K Sports Welcomes Fans To The ‘Other Season’: Pretty freakin’ cool, make sure you check it out.

Evan Longoria homered in his first-ever playoff at-bat on Thursday, then homered again to help power the Rays in a big Game 1 win over the White Sox. Longoria entered rare air with his second long ball because just one other player in MLB history has homered in their first two plate appearances.

Yankees' General Manager Brian Cashman couldn’t leave the job on a bad note, which figured into his decision to re-sign with the team as they look to return to the playoffs next season.

Alex Rodriguez reportedly had a dinner date with Tom Brady last Friday night when the Yankees were in Boston to battle the Red Sox. Brady has been seen around wearing a Yankees’ hat, but I’m not sure how New Yorkers will feel about A-Rod fraternizing with the New England quarterback. It’s certainly note-worthy, but these guys have lives and friends.

For whatever reason, the Mets have gave GM Omar Minaya a contract extension through the 2012 season. Someone has to take the fall for the team’s back-to-back September collapses, and it certainly wasn’t the manager, with Jerry Manuel on the bench this time around. Fingers have been pointed but not at Minaya enough.

Eli Manning says that the Giants will be fine without Plaxico Burress this Sunday against the Seahawks as he sits out because of a one-game suspension. I like that Eli has taken action more with a Super Bowl under his belt; I just hope Burress, who is volatile, doesn’t take Manning’s comments the wrong way.

Football Meteorology for Week Five, by Jeff Risdon.

Warren Sapp, whom we have learned is light on his toes, believes that the Raiders will improve if owner Al Davis goes away. The former Oakland tackle is undoubtedly right, but I highly doubt Davis is going to relinquish his hold on the franchise. He’s stuck in the mindset of a guy running a team in the 1960s.

Why Dwell On The Negatives?, by Randolph Charlotin.

Peyton Manning is on pace to have the worst season of his NFL career for the Colts. He has looked uncomfortable so far this season but should rebound against the porous Texans this Sunday afternoon. It’s very strange to see 23 quarterbacks with higher a QB Rating than Mr. Manning – including Marc Bulger, Kyle Orton, Matt Cassel, J.T. O’Sullivan, and Matt Schaub.

Let Luongo Wear The ‘C’, by Michael Sonday.

I wish I had his talent…
