The Boston Celtics ended the Houston Rockets’ 22-game win streak on Tuesday night, thanks to a huge second half. Kevin Garnett led the Celtics with 22 points and 11 rebounds, while Houston struggled mightily for the first time since late January. The Detroit Pistons shot 60% from the field en route to a high-scoring win over the Denver Nuggets on Tuesday night. Richard Hamilton had 24 points and Chauncey Billups added 14 points and 10 assists for the Pistons, who outrebounded Denver by nine and hit twelve three-pointers. Carmelo Anthony posted 27 points and 5 rebounds and Allen Iverson tallied 20 points and 11 assists for the Nuggets, who hit 56% of their shots and scored 20 points off of turnovers. Detroit held a 56-37 advantage in bench scoring.

The Miami Heat used a 40-point fourth quarter to knock off the Milwaukee Bucks last night. Jason Williams had 21 points and 10 assists and Joel Anthony added 9 points and 10 rebounds off the bench for the Heat, who shot 51% on the night and went 14-for-25 from beyond the arc. Michael Redd scored 27 points and Mo Williams added 26 points, 11 assists and 5 rebounds for the Bucks, who also got 14 points and 16 boards from Michael Ruffin. Miami assisted on thirty-three of their forty field goals, leading to just their twelfth win of the season.

The Chicago Bulls outscored the New Jersey Nets 29-8 in the second quarter en route to a big win on Tuesday night. Luol Deng had 20 points and 9 rebounds and Drew Gooden added 19 points and 11 boards for the Bulls, who shot 49% from the floor and outrebounded New Jersey by nine. Vince Carter notched 22 points and 5 assists and Richard Jefferson added 21 points for the Nets in the loss. Ben Gordon had 17 points, 6 assists and 4 rebounds off the bench for the Bulls, who scored eighteen points off New Jersey’s numerous turnovers.

The Los Angeles Lakers held off the Dallas Mavericks for a narrow victory last night. Dallas outscored the Lakers by nineteen in the second half, but they had already dug too big of a hole. Kobe Bryant had 29 points and 7 assists and Vladimir Radmanovic added 21 points and 10 rebounds for Los Angeles, who outrebounded Dallas by two and turned the ball over just nine times. Dirk Nowitzki posted 35 points and 11 rebounds and the combination of Jason Terry and Josh Howard notched 38 points. Jason Kidd scored just one point to go along with seven assists in the loss for the Mavs. Lamar Odom contributed 17 points and 17 boards for the Lakers, who will play Utah on Thursday.

Luis Scola had 15 points and 8 rebounds and Tracy McGrady had 8 points, 8 assists and 7 rebounds for Houston, who shot just 41% from the floor and were outscored by twenty points in the second half. The Rockets may have lost for the first time since Jan. 27, but they will go down in NBA history and are still tied for first-place in the Western Conference.

Kevin Martin had 34 points and 7 rebounds and Brad Miller added 14 points and 13 rebounds for the Kings, who hit 58% of their shots and outrebounded Golden State by eight. Baron Davis notched 24 points and 8 assists in the loss for the Warriors, who turned the ball over just eight times and got 13 points and 8 rebounds from Andris Biedrins. Ron Artest had 26 points and 5 rebounds for Sacramento, while Anthony Johnson added 13 points, 13 assists and 6 rebounds in the victory.

The Phoenix Suns shot 55% from the field on their way to an important win over the Portland Trail Blazers on Tuesday night. Amare Stoudemire had 25 points and 7 rebounds and Shaquille O’Neal added 16 points, 15 rebounds and 5 assists for the Suns, who outrebounded Portland by thirteen and outscored them in each of the four quarters. LaMarcus Aldridge posted 31 points and 8 rebounds for the Blazers, who hit only 43% of their shots and have now alternated wins-and-losses for the past two weeks. Portland is seven games behind the Warriors for the final playoff spot in the West with just fourteen games left.
