The Warriors have begun negotiations with guard Monta Ellis on a contract, according to The San Francisco Chronicle.

Ellis is believed to want a long-term deal worth well over $10 million a season. If Golden State isn't able to sign Elton Brand, Ellis should have the leverage he needs to get his desired contract.

If he chooses to, he could sign a $1 million tender offer and become an unrestricted free agent next summer.
