Contract negotiations between the Celtics and point guard Rajon Rondo are not dead.

The two sides could still reach terms on an extension before Saturday's deadline, according to agent Bill Duffy.

Duffy met with Celtics director of basketball operations Danny Ainge on Tuesday night and the club made a counterproposal that has rekindled negotiations.

Duffy told Yahoo! Sports on Monday that talks were dead.
