Josh Smith Becomes Youngest To 900 Blocks

Hawks forward Josh Smith became the youngest player in NBA history to record 900 blocks on Friday night.

Smith blocked a shot from Washington's Gilbert Arenas with 4:26 left in the game, which Atlanta won, to eclipse Shaquille O'Neal as the youngest player to reach the milestone.

The rejection set up a fast break that Smith finished with a slam dunk.

"It was special just to block the shot and then be able to finish the play with a perfect assist from Mike Bibby," Smith told the Associated Press.

Bibby Isn't Looking To Score As Much

Hawks point guard Mike Bibby won't look to score as much this season.

"I'm not looking to score as much," Bibby told the Atlanta Journal-Constitution. "I'm here to lead, because we've got more guys that are established now. My job is to knock down the open shot, get the guys into the offense and lead the team. And that's what I'm going to do. I'm not going to try and score 20 points a night.

"My job is to make things happen, make sure everybody gets their shots where they want them and make sure everybody is happy."

Bibby averaged 14.9 points on 12.7 shots per game in 2008-09.

Horford: Pierce Owes Me $10,000

Hawks center Al Horford claims that Celtics captain Paul Pierce owes him $10,000 from a playoff bet.

During an interview with Atlanta's 790 The Zone, Horford said that Pierce bet him $10,000 that the Celtics would sweep the Hawks during the 2008 playoffs.

"I haven't talked to him [since the series], but I know he owes me money," Horford said. "Marvin [Williams] was a witness. We were at the free throw line and he was telling me that they were going to sweep us and all this and, you know, we bet and I never got anything."

It took Boston seven games to eliminate Atlanta en route to the 2008 NBA title.

"I'm not mad at him at all," Horford added. "You know, I mean, he's a competitor like you said and, you know, he wants to win. He's a good player, so, I mean, it's fine for him to talk. He's a vet."
