The Boston Celtics announced today that the club has requested waivers on guard Gabe Pruitt.
Pruitt was originally drafted by the Celtics with the 32nd pick in the 2007 NBA Draft. Pruitt most recently appeared for the Celtics during the 2009 Orlando Summer League and posted averages of 10.6 points, 4.8 assists and 1.6 steals per game.

The Celtics are looking to trade Gabe Pruitt, whose contract option deadline is Friday, according to an NBA source.
Boston is leaning towards not picking up Pruitt's option, which would make him a free agent.
Pruitt was a second-round draft pick in 2007 out of USC. He is unlikely to be a part of a possible sign-and-trade with the Pacers for Marquis Daniels because Indiana already has four point guards.

The Nets have shown interest in restricted free-agent Glen Davis, but rumors of a sign-and-trade between New Jersey and Boston appear to be premature.
There were reports on Monday that the Nets could land Davis in a sign-and-trade with the Celtics involving forward Yi Jianlian.
Officials from both clubs denied such a deal, and a source claimed that New Jersey inquired about Davis "to see what's up and what they're looking for."
