Lonny Baxter Gets 60-Day Prison Term

A federal judge sentenced former Bulls draft pick Lonny Baxter to 60 days in prison on Friday for illegally shipping firearms.

The decision could affect the 28-year-old Baxter's upcoming season with a Spanish league team.

U.S. District Judge Peter Messitte based the sentence on Baxter's history with firearms and his actions in the case.

"You are in a sense on injured reserve," Messitte told Baxter. "You have in effect injured yourself."

Bobcats Could Sign An Anderson

The Bobcats have one roster spot still remaining and could sign another midsize player (possibly Derek Anderson or Alan Anderson) or add a big man as insurance. Sean May and Othella Harrington were injured last season.

Bobcats Re-Sign McInnis To One-Year Deal

The Bobcats found their backup point guard Wednesday when they re-signed Jeff McInnis to a one-year, $1.2 million contract.

McInnis, who was an unrestricted free agent, averaged 4.3 points and 3.3 assists in 38 games last season as the No. 3 point guard behind starter Raymond Felton and Brevin Knight. McInnis, who turns 33 in October, will take on a bigger role as Felton's main backup next season after the Bobcats bought out the final year of Knight's contract.
