Rose Avoids Hazing From Teammates

Bulls' rookie Derrick Rose has admitted that his teammates haven't hazed him, thus far.

"We can't throw too much at him because he's starting right now and playing a big role," forward Drew Gooden said. "With some of those bottom-of-the-barrel rookies, you can kind of take more advantage of them.

"Derrick Rose, slowly but surely when he finds his role, we'll have him doing some chores."

Del Negro Gets Advice From Boston Coach Rivers

After landing the head coaching job in Chicago, one of the first people that Vinny Del Negro sought advice from was Boston coach Doc Rivers, the Chicago Tribune is reporting.

Del Negro played two seasons with Rivers in San Antonio from 1994-96.

"Doc gave me some advice, but it's more between me and him," Del Negro said. "He knows what it's like. Those are the people I talked to a lot and sought out. He was kind enough to give me some helpful information."

Chicago's Rose, Thomas Sit Out Practice

Bulls' guard Derrick Rose and forward Tyrus Thomas both sat out practice on Wednesday.

Rose bruised his thigh in the team's season-opening win over Milwaukee on Tuesday while Thomas tweaked a swollen ankle he had been playing on.

"He's a little sore, but he'll be fine,"Ccoach Vinny Del Negro said of Rose.

Barring any setbacks, both are expected be in the starting lineup Friday when the Bulls travel to Boston to face the defending champion Celtics.
