Pacers Still Discussing Tinsley With Teams

The trade deadline is roughly three weeks away, and the Pacers are still discussing point guard Jamaal Tinsley with teams.

Tinsley, who hasn't played since Feb. 5, 2008 in an Indiana loss to San Antonio, is under contract through the 2010-11 season at roughly $7 million per year.

"We are in conversations with teams as the deadline approaches," Pacers general manager David Morway told RealGM on Thursday night.

"Teams have asked about Jamaal, and we would, obviously, like to resolve the situation. You know, we have to figure something out that will work ... and we are hopeful that we'll be able to accomplish that at some point."

The Pacers placed Tinsley on the block well before the start of the season, but more than four months later he's still on their payroll.

"I know that Jamaal will be in good shape, and ready to play basketball," Morway added. "I think a new start will really be good for him and that he'll do very well."

Pacers Tout Granger's All-Star Credentials

Pacers' president Larry Bird and coach Jim O'Brien recently sent out packets about forward Danny Granger to Eastern Conference coaches in hopes that they'll put him on the All-Star team.

"We wanted them to have information so that they would really look hard at what Danny has meant to the Indiana Pacers, along with every pertinent statistical category of things he has done this year," O'Brien said. "We're trying to do everything possible to make sure he gets the recognition he deserves."

Granger is fourth in the league in scoring. Voting for the reserves will be announced this Thursday.

Bird Has Lofty Goals For Granger

Pacers' president Larry Bird has some lofty goals for star forward Danny Granger, which aren't limited to just making the All-Star team.

"I want Danny to make the All-Star team, but I'd rather see him represent our country in the next Olympics," Bird told the Associated Press. "That's what I want to see, and that's when you know you made it, because those are all the best players in the world."

Bird is hoping Granger will receive an invite to the 2012 Olympics in London.

"In the last year, just watching from the beginning of the season, it's all business, but at a higher level," Bird said. "I think Danny understands what it takes to get there, and I think he'll do it."

Granger is averaging 26.2 points per game, fourth in the NBA.
