Sources: Daniels To Sign With Celtics Tuesday

The Celtics are expected to sign Marquis Daniels to a contract worth the biannual exception on Tuesday.

Sources told the Boston Herald of the agreement.

The Celtics had been trying to work a sign-and-trade with the Pacers, but nothing was reached.

Dunleavy Says He Could Return Sooner

Mike Dunleavy says that he could return to the Pacers earlier than expected.

Pacers coach Jim O'Brien said last week that Dunleavy might be able to return by the team's season opener.

Dunleavy is returning from major knee surgery, which was initially expected to keep him out until the second half of the 2009-10 season.

He can do everything but engage in physical contact, something that he expects to change very soon. Dunleavy had surgery in March to remove a bone spur from the patella tendon on his right knee.

Indiana general manager David Morway told RealGM last week that the team doesn't have a solid timetable for Dunleavy's return.

Celtics Hoping To Finalize Daniels Acquisition

The Celtics are hoping to finalize their acquisition of Marquis Daniels this week.

If Boston doesn't sign Daniels to a deal worth their biannual exception, they are expected to work a sign-and-trade with Indiana.

Bill Walker is one name that has been mentioned in trade talks. He wants to return to the Celtics, but he knows the NBA is a business.

"I don't worry about that. That's a part of the business. That's the beast side of the business. All I can control is that I'm going to work out every day and take every day for what it’s worth," Walker told the Boston Herald. "If I'm here, I'm here. If I'm not, oh well, but I still want to be who I am at the end of the day."
