Report: Brown Wants To Coach

Larry Brown's agent, Joe Glass, said his client, who interviewed with the Memphis Grizzlies yesterday, wants to coach again after taking a season off, according to a report.

"Larry Brown will be a popular candidate for any basketball enterprise whether it be college or pro that's looking for a coach because he's a good coach," Glass told the Memphis Commercial Appeal yesterday.

Brown Interviews With Grizzlies

Other candidates are also being considered, but Larry Brown was interviewed by Grizzlies' owner Michael Heisley on Thursday.

"Anybody would have to be impressed with Larry, OK? He's one of the great coaches in NBA history," Heisley told The Commercial Appeal newspaper in a story posted Thursday. "I wouldn't be talking to Larry Brown if I wasn't interested, but I wouldn't be having a process if I was interested in just one person."

Another possible candidate is Phoenix assistant Marc Iavaroni.

Grizzlies To Meet With Larry Brown, Vandeweghe

The Grizzlies are in the beginning stages of a process to fill their head coach and general manager vacancies, and the team is scheduled to interview two experienced candidates this week, according to an NBA source.

Former New York Knicks coach Larry Brown will meet with Grizzlies majority Michael Heisley today to discuss replacing interim head coach Tony Barone Sr. Former Denver Nuggets boss Kiki Vandeweghe will soon follow Brown to talk to Heisley about replacing team president Jerry West, who announced his intention to leave the organization July 1.

Heisley is expected to meet with three executives and three coaches -- one who remains unnamed -- early on in the process.
