Vince Carter did not suit up for the New Jersey Nets on Friday night against the Portland Trail Blazers because of a sore back.
Carter, who averages 24.1 points per game, hurt his lower back Monday in an 89-78 loss to Utah. He reaggravated it in a 90-77 loss Wednesday to the Los Angeles Clippers.
Against the Clippers, Carter hit just one shot from the field to finish with a season-low three points. He left the game with 2:25 to go in the third quarter.

New Jersey Nets backup guard Jeff McInnis has torn cartilage in his left knee that will require surgery, coach Lawrence Frank said Monday.
McInnis suffered the injury in the second quarter of the Nets' 110-77 loss at Dallas on Saturday night. An MRI on Sunday revealed the tear.
In 28 games with one start this season, McInnis has averaged 5.3 points and 1.9 assists in 17 minutes per game.

New Jersey Nets guard Jeff McInnis underwent an MRI on Sunday, January 15, 2006, to determine the extent of a left knee injury he suffered in the Nets/Dallas game on January 14. The MRI revealed a torn cartilage, and treatment will be determined following an examination Monday by the Nets medical staff.
