Hornets Pick Up Option On Paul's Deal

The Hornets extended a fourth-year option on Chris Paul's current three-year contract Sunday that keeps him from becoming a free agent.

"Chris has exceeded all expectations both on and off the court since we drafted him, and we're pleased to have him officially under contract through the 2008-09 season," Bower said in a statement.

Nets Acquire Wesley For Robinson, Ilic And Cash

The New Jersey Nets have acquired guard David Wesley from New Orleans in exchange for guard/forward Bernard Robinson, center Mile Ilic and cash considerations, Nets' President Rod Thorn announced Monday. “This transaction provides the Nets with roster flexibility for the upcoming season”, said Thorn. Wesley has played 14 seasons in the NBA, including one season in New Jersey (1993-94). He holds career averages of 12.5 points and 4.4 assists per game. Robinson was acquired by the Nets on January 3, 2007 from the Charlotte Bobcats. He averaged 1.0 point in 10 games with New Jersey last season. Hornets Waive Trey Johnson

Trey Johnson arrived two weeks before training camp and spent time learning the playbook from star point guard Chris Paul. It turned out all that preparation time and having the ability to play both guard positions weren't enough as the Hornets waived the undrafted free agent on Thursday.

In his final game Wednesday night, Johnson played five minutes and went scoreless after making only one shot attempt against the Atlanta Hawks. In seven games, he averaged 5.0 points. Johnson was in a battle for the final roster spot with second-round draft pick Adam Haluska, who plays shooting guard.
