The Knicks have been trying to engage the Rockets in talks regarding Tracy McGrady since the summer.
Multiple sources told Newsday that New York could try to contact Houston again, this time with greater success, in the wake of reported issues between McGrady and the Rockets.
There was a reported confrontation between McGrady and coach Rick Adelman, which both denied, this week regarding the star's return from a knee injury.

The Knicks defeated the Nets 98-91 on Saturday afternoon to keep New Jersey winless this season.
The Nets got All-Star point guard Devin Harris back after he missed ten games with a groin injury.
Harris played 26 minutes, scoring 12 points and recording seven assists.

Knicks guard Nate Robinson attempted a 30-foot heave towards the wrong basket during Saturday's game against the Nets.
The shot came after an inbound pass with 0.5 seconds left in the first quarter and the ball left Robinson's hand after time expired, but he drilled the three-pointer in New Jersey's basket.
New York coach Mike D'Antoni was visibly upset with Robinson.
