San Antonio Spurs Wiretap

Marbury Contained, Spurs Take Control

For the first time in this NBA best-of-seven first-round series, it was clear which team had earned the top seed in the Western Conference.

The San Antonio Spurs built a large first-half lead and held on to beat the Phoenix Suns, 94-82, tonight before 19,217 at SBC Center and take a 3-2 lead in the series.

Lure of crown could further Spur Jason

Game 5, Nets vs. Bucks, Jason Kidd vs. Gary Payton. With their first-round series tied 2-2, with each team stealing one down-to-the-wire victory on the road, and with the matchup of future Hall of Fame point guards coming off even better than advertised, there should be a packed house tonight in the Meadowlands. But over in Jersey yesterday, there were ads for Game 5 announcing, "Great seats are still available."

We can think of an even better way to ensure a sellout: "Come see Jason Kidd's last home game as a Net!"

Preposterous? Not in the least.

Warriors first-year coach Eric Musselman finished second with 231 points, including 26 first-place votes, and the Utah Jazz's Jerry Sloan had 143 points and 18 first-place votes. Thirteen coaches received at least one first-place vote.
