Parker's debut likely to be pushed back

Earlier in the week, Popovich said he thought the point guard might be ready to return Saturday against New York. He now thinks Parker will need more time to rehabilitate his left ankle.

Parker likely will sit out Spurs' opener

Spurs guard Tony Parker's sprained left ankle is healing but it is likely to keep him out of the team's opener on Tuesday night against Phoenix.

"Tony will probably be back by the second or third game," (Coach Greg) Popovich said Thursday. "He'll be back pretty quickly."

Former UTSA star Devin Brown lands spot with Spurs
