Jawad Williams Amongst Five Spurs Signings

The San Antonio Spurs signed five free agents Thursday, including former North Carolina forward Jawad Williams.

The Spurs also signed guards Kyle Bailey and Stephen Graham and forwards Sharrod Ford and Melvin Sanders.

Williams, a forward, averaged 13.1 points and four rebounds in helping the Tar Heels win the national championship last season.

Ford averaged 14.2 points and 8.2 rebounds for Clemson during his senior year. Sanders spent last season with the Dakota Wizards in the Continental Basketball Association.

Bailey played at Santa Clara for four seasons and Graham spent the last two years at Oklahoma State after transferring from Central Florida.

Parker Leads France Over Serbia & Montenegro; Darko Looks Solid

San Antonio Spurs point guard Tony Parker helped France defeat perennial European powerhouse Serbia & Montenegro, contributing 13 points and 3 assists in the win.

Many analysts were impressed with the Pistons' Darko Milicic over the course of the tournament. His numbers weren’t all that big, however, in 10 minutes of work, the youngster averaged 4.5 points, 4 rebounds and 1.25 blocks en route to a solid summer.

Nuggets, Spurs, Rockets And Clippers Join Forces For Austin NBDL Team

NBA senior vice president Stu Jackson and NBA Development League president Philip Evans are scheduled to announce team affiliations today. The Nuggets, San Antonio Spurs, Houston Rockets and Los Angeles Clippers are expected to be affiliated with the new NBDL franchise in Austin. The NBA will be affiliated with the now eight-team NBDL for the first time in the 2005-06 season.

NBA teams can send players with less than two years' experience to play for the NBDL teams.
