Bucks Get Markota In Trade With San Antonio

The Milwaukee Bucks have acquired the draft rights for Damir Markota from the San Antonio Spurs in exchange for the better of Milwaukee’s two second round draft picks in the 2007 NBA Draft.

The Bucks previously owned two second round picks for next year’s draft – their own pick and a pick obtained from the Houston Rockets (they received Houston’s 2007 second round pick on February 24, 2005 along with a 2006 second round pick and Reece Gaines from the Rockets in exchange for Mike James and Zendon Hamilton).

Nesterovic Sees Rosy Raptor Future

Going from a team used to contending to one used to being in the NBA lottery, new Raptors center Rasho Nesterovic believes that his team can quickly turn things around and return Canada's only team to the post season.

"It's a really talented team and with some good work and good luck ... there's a good possibility that in three or four years Toronto could be in the top three or four teams in the league," the newest Raptor said yesterday in a conference call from his native Slovenia.

Nesterovic, a 7-footer who has been in the NBA since 1998, was obtained along with cash from the San Antonio Spurs on Wednesday for Matt Bonner, Eric Williams and a 2009 second-round draft pick.

Nesterovic said all the right things yesterday during a press conference from Slovenia.

"It's definitely exciting. It's a young team, a very talented team with some very big goals. The last couple of years, Toronto didn't have much success; that means nothing."
