Oberto Agrees To Sign With Wizards

Fabricio Oberto has agreed to sign with the Wizards, according to the Washington Post.

Oberto, who is home in his native Argentina, called Wizards president Ernie Grunfeld on Thursday to inform him that he would accept a one-year deal worth the biannual exception of $1.99 million.

The Kings, Suns, Thunder and Lakers were also interested in Oberto, who was released by Detroit earlier this month after being traded twice in a matter of days.

Oberto To Decide On Future Soon

Free agent forward Fabricio Oberto will decide on an NBA team by next week, according to his agent.

The Wizards are favored to sign him, but the Spurs are an option as well.

San Antonio traded Oberto to Milwaukee in the Richard Jefferson deal last month. He was then flipped for Amir Johnson in a trade with Detroit, who promptly waived him. The Wizards have offered Oberto their bi-annual exception, worth $1.99 million.

Jamison Intrigued By Marbury Rumors

Wizards forward Antawn Jamison is intrigued by rumors that the team could add free-agent guard Stephon Marbury.

"There are certain guys in the league that have an established reputation and you know what they can do, that they bring it every night. Steph is one of those guys," Jamison told HoopsWorld. "I've known Steph since high school, and the things that he's accomplished as a person and as a player speak volumes. He's one of those guys that can't do anything but help the team out and make it a better team."
