As a backup center, Rebraca's initiation to the NBA has gone better than expected, the Pistons say.

Rebraca is the team's second-leading rebounder (5.8 per game), which is fairly impressive, considering that he's not a starter. He also averages 7.2 points in 15.8 minutes a game.

"He has a bright future as a player in this league," Pistons coach Rick Carlisle said. "He's young for a big guy: 29. He has great strength, a very high skill level, and right now it's a matter of getting used to the pace of the NBA game and conditioning himself to really sprint up and down the court every time down. That part of the game is different than the European game."

Rebraca knows that, in time, he will come to feel less like an outsider. He had spent his entire pro career in Europe since being drafted by Seattle in the second round in 1994.
