It didn't take Tim James long to find a new home after being waived by the Hornets last month.

James signed with the Philadelphia 76ers six days after the Hornets bought out his contract on Oct. 30, and he said before the Sixers' 100-86 win last night that he was grateful for the way things worked out.

"Things have been working out pretty good," James said. "I'm really glad something happened fast, because I didn't want to have to stay out long and fall out of the loop and maybe have to go back to the developmental league or something.

"This has been a blessing, so now it's up to me to take advantage of it. I really feel this is the chance I've needed, the chance I've been waiting for. I just have to go out and play hard every night and let the chips fall where they may, and hopefully things will work out."

James, a 6-7 forward in his third NBA season, averaged 1.5 points and 1.2 rebounds in 30 games with the Hornets last season.
