By this point in the season, Heat coach Pat Riley usually has settled on an eight- or nine-man rotation.

But with the injury-riddled Heat suffering through an eight-game losing streak and a 2-10 start, Riley hasn't even determined a starting lineup.

``I've never had to do that,'' Riley said of changing starters frequently. ``I've always wanted to put five names up on the board and that's it, and get to that as quick as you can. It's unfortunate we haven't been able to.''

Riley has started nine lineups in 12 games. The Heat used 10 starting lineups last season.

Two players -- Tang Hamilton and Vladimir Stepania -- have gone from starting one game to not playing in the next.

Riley hedged about who would start tonight against Boston alongside Alonzo Mourning, LaPhonso Ellis, Eddie Jones and Anthony Carter. The Heat needs adequate perimeter defenders at both forward positions because the Celtics start versatile Antoine Walker and Paul Pierce up front.
