The East Valley Tribune is reporting that once things settle down for the Suns the team will begin negotiations for a contract extension for head coach Mike D?Antoni.

Suns president Bryan Colangelo would only say, "It?s quite possible that once the dust settles from our offseason activities, including the draft and free agency, that we will open discussions with Mike and his representative."

D?Antoni has two years left on a deal that pays him a little less than $2 million per season. That puts him in the bottom third of the NBA?s coaching pay scale.

His stock rose with the Suns? stunning 62-20 season and his NBA coach of the year award.

D?Antoni?s agent, Warren Legarie, declined comment.
