Portland forward Darius Miles sat out the Trail Blazers' game against the Utah Jazz on Sunday night because of cartilage damage in his right knee.

Miles, averaging 18.2 points and 5.6 rebounds, was placed on the inactive list and rookie Martell Webster started in his place.

Miles said he had an MRI exam on Sunday which indicated he might need to have surgery. He was going to seek a second opinion on Monday.

Blazers coach Nate McMillan said there was no timetable for Miles' return.

"Our doctors felt like they saw something that needs to be looked at," McMillan said after the Blazers lost 98-93.
