Monday afternoon, guard Dwyane Wade wasn't thinking about the players the Heat was unable to sign during the off-season. His mind was on tutoring 400 kids at the Topps Basketball Camp at Nova Southeastern University.

But eventually the media arrived, and so did questions about his team's inability to obtain a No. 3 scorer, an off-season goal of Heat President and coach Pat Riley.

"Everyone's anxious to see what the Heat's going to do, but one thing fans should understand is it's not like we haven't tried," Wade said. "We've had our hands in every piece of the puzzle, but for whatever reason, green reasons, it hasn't worked out.

"You can't be mad at Maurice Williams for taking the money he took" to re-sign with Milwaukee, Wade said of the point guard Miami sought before signing Smush Parker.
