Chairman Clay Bennett and the rest of the Seattle SuperSonics ownership group, in town this week, met at Emerald Downs in Auburn to discuss a proposal to build a new arena next to the racetrack.

The Muckleshoot Indian Tribe, which owns land adjacent to Emerald Downs, is considering building an arena that could potentially house the Sonics and the WNBA?s Storm. According to a Seattle Times report, Emerald Downs president Ron Crockett and King County councilman Pete von Reichbauer hosted the meeting with members of the Sonics ownership group Wednesday.

The meeting did not include members of the Muckleshoot Indian Tribe, said Rollin Fatland, a spokesperson for the tribe.

?No meeting has been scheduled (with the Sonics),? Fatland said. ?We haven?t heard from the ownership group.?

Phone calls to the Sonics seeking comment were not returned. Von Reichbauer declined to comment.
