Mike D'Antoni figures to have considerable input into personnel decisions as the Knicks' front office tries to bring in pieces that fit their new coach's run-and-gun system.  And any moves will be made with an eye toward obtaining long-term salary cap flexibility.

Team president Donnie Walsh will be looking for a general manager to assist in this process.  When Mark Jackson was a leading candidate to land the head coaching position, Walsh was considering experienced people like Billy King, Rick Sund and Mark Warkentien.

But with D'Antoni in the fold, Walsh may opt for a general manager with salary cap expertise or a scouting background.  Larry Harris, Maurizio Gherardini and Tommy Sheppard are potential candidates.

Walsh also likes Glen Grunwald, who is expected to run the draft and could remain with the team next season.
