It's no secret that the Cavaliers would love to sign Joe Smith for the remainder of the season, and LeBron James made his own pitch on Monday night.
"He's one of the best teammates I've ever had and I'd love to have him back," James said. "We know what type of guy he is - he's a true professional. Teams always want him."
Smith is expected to clear waivers on Wednesday morning, and soon after Cleveland is expected to offer him a contract.
Multiple league sources claim that Smith plans to except the offer and join the Cavaliers as soon as possible.
