Portland center Greg Oden had successful surgery on his left patella Sunday and afterward the team confirmed that he'll miss the remainder of the season.

"I'm obviously disappointed having worked so hard to get to where I was. This is a setback but I'll be back. It's in God's hands now," Oden said in a statement released by the team. "I want to thank the fans, my teammates and everyone in the Blazers family for all of their good thoughts."

Oden broke his left kneecap in the first quarter of Portland's win over Houston on Saturday night. The former No. 1 overall pick, who has been plagued by injuries in his three seasons, apologized to his teammates.

"He didn't do anything," teammate LaMarcus Aldridge protested. "People don't understand that injuries are part of the game. We all are at risk every time we play so I think injuries are going to happen. It's unfortunate that it's happened to him."
