The Big East has had eight teams in the tournament in three of the past five seasons, but they could possibly send 10 teams this season.
The Big East has 10 schools in the RPI top-38, while the latest AP top-25 has eight teams.
"Maybe (the selection committee) will change their perception of what a ninth- or 10th-place team is," Villanova coach Jay Wright said.
