Ohio State forward Jared Sullinger has been named the winner of the inaugural Wayman Tisdale Award.

The honor given by the U.S. Basketball Writers Association recognizes the national freshman of the year.

Sullinger averaged 17.2 points and 10.1 rebounds per game this season.

John Wall, Tyreke Evans, Michael Beasley and Kevin Durant were the previous four recipients of the award.
