The Spurs announced the signing of forward Da’Sean Butler to a free agent contract.

Having rehabilitated his left knee, Butler will be ticketed for a few games with the Spurs’ Austin Toros D-League team with the hope being he can be evaluated for the future.

Playing for West Virginia, Butler suffered a gruesome knee injury in a semifinal loss to Duke in last year's NCAA Tournament, tearing his ACL and doing damage to the MCL, as well.

Butler had been ticketed as a first-round pick in the 2010 draft, but dropped to the second round after the knee injury, where the Heat selected him 42nd overall. He became a free agent when the Heat waived him on Oct. 25.
