Mike Woodson, who is a candidate for the Pistons’ head coaching job, is expected to interview today for the Minnesota Timberwolves’ head coaching job.

Woodson confirmed Monday night that he was headed to Minnesota to interview while he awaits word from the Pistons if he or Lawrence Frank will be hired to replace John Kuester. Woodson said he was contacted by the Timberwolves’ front office to talk about the position.

The Timberwolves fired Kurt Rambis last week.

Woodson has said he would prefer to work for Joe Dumars, president of basketball operations for the Pistons, because of the relationship the two forged in 2004 when Woodson was an assistant on Larry Brown’s staff that captured the NBA title.
