LeBron James is considering a run to become president of the NBA players union.

“It’s something he has talked about with a small group of people,” a source close to James said. "There is a new executive director coming in and new commissioner. He recognizes that this is the time for the union to change.”

It is still "unlikely" that James takes the presidency, according to the source.

“The demands on LeBron’s time are already substantial," the source said. "Whether it’s formally or informally, LeBron has strong opinions on the future of the union and will be very active in the rebuilding process.”

Brian Windhorst of ESPN also reported that James is interested in becoming president. James is also close friends with Chris Paul, who has served as union vice president.
