Lee Jenkins of Sports Illustrated had a lengthy piece on Russell Westbrook this week and had an interview with 107.7 in Oklahoma City about him.

"Superficially, you would think he'd be the most likely to bolt," said Jenkins. "Because he's from L.A. Because of the fashion. I have a different perspective after being around him a bit. Because he is so slow to trust and his circle is so small and with time the Thunder has become part of that circle and he trusts the organization. He really feels at home there and I don't know if that's an easy or fast process for a person like that. I actually feel better about the chances that he will stay."

Jenkins doesn't see Westbrook as the type of player who would want the media glare off the court that would come in a market like New York or Los Angeles. Westbrook can become a free agent in 2017.

"In Oklahoma City, it's a pretty good arrangement for him. Kevin Durant gives him some public cover that he appreciates."

Jenkins also talked about the personal relationship between Durant and Westbrook.

"I know they're really close. I don't think that's going to determine what's going to happen there in the next couple of years. It's more going to be about the professional relationship."
